Saudi Aramco
Saudi Arabian oil giant, Aramco, recently commissioned design consultants HB Source to devise and procure a special, signature sculpture for their corporate HQ. Appropriately, the chosen concept was to create a sculptural representation of ‘drilling for oil’. With their unique fabrication, design and manufacture skills, Litestructures were the obvious choice to turn HB's concept into 3-dimensional reality. The imposing suspended structure, measuring some 7 metres in diameter, was engineered and constructed, during a 3-month consultation process, at Litestructures. Incorporating the latest Luxeon LED lighting, the structure was assembled inside the Litestructures Studio, and shipped in its entirety to Aramco HQ. Final assembly and on-site installation was in February 2007, and took just one day. Following, as it does, the much acclaimed success of the UVA Volume exhibit at London's Victoria & Albert musuem, this latest Litestructures tour-de-force places the company at the very cutting edge of sculpture culture.
