System Components
- Supports both DALI and DMX512 Protocols.
- Live feed – to connect power and control signals to the truss.
- Straight coupler – to connect two truss modules together.
- Flexible coupler – to connect two truss modules across a corner or obstacle.
- Multi-adaptor – connects lights up to 5kg each to the truss.
- Multi-adaptor cable – carries both mains and data in one sheath for separate appliances.
- Dimmable multi-adaptors – built-in dimmer switch enabling intelligent lights to be dimmed via the data signal running along the track.
- Switchable multi-adaptors – built-in on/off switching for intelligent fixtures via the data track.
Power and Control
Astralite, by Litestructures, was the world's first lightweight, aluminium trussing system. This company was the first to incorporate electrical power rails within the structure of the truss, and the Litestructures range of 'live' structural trussing is the acknowledged world leader. Today, we offer another unique innovation, Digitruss. This cutting-edge product offers the ultimate in convenience and flexibility; modular structural trussing with on-board power, plus connectivity for both architectural (DALI) and entertainment (DMX512) digital control protocols. Conventional and intelligent luminaries and appliances can be fixed, directly to the truss, without extraneous wiring or cables. The Digitruss master connectors also provide both energy-saving and safety options. Digitruss is available now, from Litestructures and its distributors, for both purchase and hire.
Digitruss brings new creative freedom …
Digitruss by LiteStructures is a truly innovative, cable-free, modular truss system that incorporates both live power circuits and data rails within a single structure. The data rail can carry both the architectural protocol DALI, and the entertainment industry standard DMX512, so that both conventional and intelligent lighting can be directly attached to the truss without the need for extension cables. Digitruss is the only product which offers this facility, and can accommodate appliances up to 5kg each in weight, directly connected to the system. Larger, heavier fixtures can also be utilised, linked using special Digitruss connectors. Hitherto, these appliances could only be powered and controlled from a non-load bearing rail which had, itself, to be securely fixed every few centimetres to a support structure or surface. This in turn meant that the fixtures would have to be secured by some means additional to the supply/control rail and individually hard wired. With Digitruss you can execute a design scheme quickly and easily, and you can change the layout at any time without changing the wiring - it's already there. As both protocol rails are incorporated into the structural truss unit, it is now possible to span widths in excess of 4 metres while maintaining total load bearing capabilities. Not only is it quicker and cheaper to set up a planned lighting scheme with Digitruss, it is also simplicity itself to change both positioning and even appliances, whenever it is so wished. Other significant benefits accrue. Energy-saving measures such as daylight sensing and presence detection can be built into the system, and the Digitruss master connectors also include, as standard, a SELV safety device to ensure that the track voltage cannot exceed set limits. Here are just some of the applications:
- Thanks to the strength-to-weight ratio of the Astralite or Maxilite truss, upon which it is based, Digitruss can sustain large load bearing spans for ease of installation.
- The cable-free system offers huge flexibility in terms of cost-effective changes of use for tenants and venues with widely varying lighting requirements.
- It is easy to incorporate energy-saving options across a wide range of fitted appliances.
- The system provides unequalled
flexibility, and the opportunity
for the non-technical specifier or user to use the
latest lighting technology
to its best advantage. Seasonally changing window displays
and in-store mood creation
are easily achieved.
Digitruss offers the venue owner the opportunity to create different mood paintings for different times of the trading day and to match different activities. In a club or bar situation, for example, individual micro-climates can be activated at the flick of a switch.
